Text Your Vote for Miss Rodeo America People’s Choice

This year Miss Rodeo America, Inc., has added a new award to be presented during the 2009 Miss Rodeo America Pageant. Anyone with a cell phone will be able to vote for his or her favorite contestant.

American Idol, Nashville Star and political campaigns have all used the modern technology of text messaging. Now, spectators, family and friends of Miss Rodeo America Pageant contestants will have the opportunity to support their favorite contestant.

The People’s Choice voting will take place Saturday, Nov. 29, beginning at noon and ending Thursday, Dec. 4, at midnight. The 2009 Miss Rodeo America Pageant People’s Choice Award winner will be announced Friday, Dec. 5, at the Miss Rodeo America Scholarship Foundation Auction that takes place at Cowboy Christmas in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Miss Rodeo America, Inc., decided to join the text-voting craze after several requests for more audience interaction. “We’ve been working on a voting system for a couple of years and have explored several options. We thought this would be the most convenient way for the contestants’ families and support groups to get involved,” Raeana Wadhams, Miss Rodeo America, Inc., Executive Director said. Voting is simple and inexpensive.

People wishing to vote, text to 73997, type Miss Rodeo then the state the contestant is from. Each vote is 50 cents, standard rate apply.

“In an effort to get as many people involved as possible we decided to set up an additional avenue of voting for rodeo fans,” Wadhams said. “ We hope to make this something the Wrangler NFR audience can enjoy too.”

A second text-voting category has been set up for Wrangler National Finals Rodeo spectators. Voters can send a text between noon, Dec. 4 and midnight, Dec. 13, to 73997, type NFR, then the state the contestant is from. More information on the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Spectator’s Choice is available in the 2008 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Program.
