Meet the Queen: Miss Rodeo Idaho

My name is Dusti Olson.image1

I am 23 years old and currently pursuing a degree in elementary education. I put Christ first in all aspects of my life, and I am truly blessed on this wonderful adventure as Miss Rodeo Idaho. Some of my hobbies include: hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, motocross, rodeo, taxidermy, teaching, and Eh Capa bareback riding.

8lkjI never dreamed I would be taking the rodeo queen path. As a child, I fell in love riding steers and dreamed of becoming the first professional woman bull rider. Throughout middle school and high school I rode as many steers as I could at rodeos across the Northwest. I loved the challenge!

I held small rodeo queen titles throughout this time frame, but I never dreamed I would someday have the honor of representing as Miss Rodeo Idaho. After I won my first big title, Miss Caldwell Night Rodeo, I realized my job as a rodeo ambassador was life changing and held so many personal and professional benefits to my present and future.  I was thrilled to be an asset to my community and a role model to so many kids, all while representing the great sport of rodeo! My focus began to switch from rough stock to horses and my dream of becoming Miss Rodeo Idaho formed.

15711The first year I ran for Miss Rodeo Idaho I was awarded First Runner-Up, and I am so thankful I was! Second place was an opportunity to better myself, study, prepare even more and come back 110% for this prestigious, blessed title. So far in my reign as Miss Rodeo Idaho, I have had the privilege to travel to the Miss Rodeo Texas Clinic, the Denver WESA Market with 15726my President, Sheri Arkoosh, the Silver Spurs Rodeo in Florida, the South Dakota Black Hills Stock Show, the Cave Creek Fiesta Days Rodeo in Arizona, and many local community events in between. There are so many activities coming up I am looking forward to, but the ones that cannot get here soon enough are the Snake River Stampede – my host rodeo, Cheyenne Frontier Days, the Caldwell Night Rodeo, and another trip to Texas.
And, of course, I cannot wait to get to Vegas this year and have all these amazing girls back together once again representing the sport of rodeo and all their amazing states at
the 2016 Miss Rodeo America Pageant!
