I spent the entire month of June on the road and WOW it was fun! I kicked it off in Darby, Montana at the Xtreme Broncs where I visited with my Miss Rodeo Alabama from last year and toured her family’s beautiful ranch. The production crew in Darby were some of the sweetest ladies, and I’m especially grateful to Mary from Minnesota who took me to the airport at 2:30am, she is a saint!
From there I headed to Las Vegas for the World Champions Media Days, which will definitely be one of my favorite trips this year. All of the reigning world champions and I took our pictures for the NFR tickets, recorded several podcasts and interviews, and even fed a giraffe! It is hard to put into words how much I enjoyed my time with everyone at the South Point and Las Vegas Events!
After Las Vegas, I headed to Lea County, New Mexico for their queen clinic. Even though it is about 5 hours from where I grew up, everyone there has always made it feel like home. I love the people in Lea County, and the future there is bright – I was so impressed by all of the participants at the clinic. I also enjoyed a strawberry sprinkle donut and a trip to Rosa’s while I was there, which anyone who knows me knows is the way to my heart.
My next trip was a little bit sporadic, but thanks to a last-minute rescue from Miss Rodeo Colorado at the Denver airport, I made it to North Platte, Nebraska. The Stobbs Family hosted me for a full and fun week during the Miss Rodeo Nebraska Pageant!
From Nebraska, I headed back across the country to Prineville, Oregon. The Moss Family and Miss Rodeo Oregon made it such a memorable trip! I rode in the parade with my first “flower pack,” ate homemade sourdough bread, and got to catch up with some of my family I don’t get to see very often.
I left Oregon and headed to Reno, Nevada for the Wildest, Richest, Rodeo in the West! We did several media interviews, tried our hand at leather tooling, and took a trip up to Virginia City to see the sites. It was so special to be in the arena at Reno and kick off Cowboy Christmas with many of the state queens!
June ended in Cody, Wyoming where Miss Rodeo America spends Independence Day every year. It is surreal to realize we are already at the halfway point of the year! My time on the road this summer is just getting started though as July and August promise to be even more full than June. I am so grateful to every committee, host family, state organization, and US Rider for making my time on the road this year smooth and memorable!
