August brought on the heat of the summer! I started the month in Abilene, KS which proved to be a very large rodeo for a very small town. Miss Rodeo K State and I truly enjoyed our time together visiting the local library, interviewing with local TV stations, and waiting out a tornado watch in the rodeo office in the dark!

After a whirlwind of a week (literally) in Kansas, I loaded up and drove down to one of my all time favorite rodeos – the Lea County Fair and Rodeo. I grew up jr. rodeoing in Lea County from the time I can remember, so getting to be back as Miss Rodeo America was truly special. I enjoyed catching up with so many people I grew up with and their families. I look forward to the mac & cheese and peach cobbler in hospitality every year – and this year they were just as delicious as I remembered!

From Lovington I got on a flight to Austin, TX where I was so excited to discover my rental car for the week was a bright bronze Mini Cooper. I drove down to Yoakum, TX in style where I got to spend some time with two of our fabulous sponsors – Circly Y Saddles and Double D Ranchwear. It is always heartwarming to see the behind the scenes of the passion that goes into each of our sponsors’ products. I have gone home from each and every sponsor visit this year so proud to represent the brands and people that support Miss Rodeo America. Before I left Texas, Mitchell with Double D also stopped to let me rescue a turtle out of the road. I have to say, this was a first for me, and also might just have been the highlight of the trip!

Kennewick, Washington welcomed me with weather that was 50 degrees cooler than when I left Texas. Kiki Shumway and I had a fabulous week together at the Horse Heaven Roundup. It was the perfect way to kick off my time in the Northwest before I headed to Bremerton, Washington. The Kitsap Fair and Rodeo might have been the muddiest arena I have ever seen. Miss Columbia River Circuit and I made the most of it and enjoyed some delicious sushi during our time on the West Coast. I had a few days before my next Washington rodeo, so I headed down to The South Point Hotel in Las Vegas and enjoyed the final few days of the futurity with my family. Then I headed back north to Walla Walla, Washington where I experienced my first demolition derby, gave fair tours to local schools, and spent the week with many rodeo queens from across the Northwest!

August was packed with so many wonderful memories and more miles than I had traveled all summer! I am so grateful Miss Rodeo America has US Rider on our team, because I know they’ll take care of me no matter how far from home I go!
