Greetings from the Sunshine State!
I am your 2015 Miss Rodeo Florida, Sheila Shirah. As soon as January rolled around I hit the ground running. My schedule has taken me all around the state to PRCA rodeos in Lakeland, Homestead, Brighton, Kissimmee, Ft. Pierce, Okeechobee, and Ft. Myers, as well as several other events and appearances. I still have a full agenda ahead of me, and I am currently making plans to travel out west over the summer! It has been my dream since I was nine to become Miss Rodeo Florida so I could represent my states
enormous and unique ranching heritage as well as our prominence in the professional sport of rodeo.
As a member of a seventh generation Osceola County ranching family I have a deep pride for Florida’s history and heritage and I am loving being the ambassador for my state and the PRCA. Another thing I am proud of is the fact that my ancestors started the Silver Spurs Riding Club in the 1940’s, and the first arena was built on land donated by my great-great-great uncle, Henry O. Partin. Since then my family has stayed highly involved with the Silver Spurs Rodeo, and I was honored to welcome some of the other state queens to my hometown rodeo this past February. What made this even better is that I got to work alongside my dad, as he is the current “Big Boss” (President) of the rodeo.
I know that Kissimmee is a wonderful fit to host the upcoming
Ram National Circuit Finals Rodeo, and there is no
better place that I can think of for it to be held at than the Silver Spurs Arena! I am ecstatic to be a part of this event and excited to see Florida receiving so much attention. This is the perfect time to really educate people on agriculture and rodeo here in my home state, and I could not be any more honored to represent what I am most passionate about as Miss Rodeo Florida!
May your horses be fast and your cows be fat,
Sheila Shirah
