“The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.” (Oprah Winfrey) That is exactly what I’ve been doing since the moment they placed the crown on my head. Living my life as Miss Rodeo Utah this past several months has been nothing short of a dream come true.
I was blessed to grow up in the beautiful small town of Morgan, Utah. My family has always been busy living up to and continuing the western heritage that our ancestors left for us. My grandfather is a third generation Black Angus cattle rancher and has provided me with the life lessons of hard work and determination much the same as his grandfather did for him. When I’m not learning the necessities of ranching from him, I’m being groomed to read a racing program and learn the importance of good blood lines in quarter horses from my other grandpa who I share the love of horse racing with. I have been so fortunate to have these two great men in my life who have stayed true to their roots and enriched family values.
I have taken the traits that my family has given me and used them to serve and honor the great state of Utah as Miss Rodeo Utah.
Even prior to my reign I was given the opportunity to become involved with a program called Western Wishes. This program was established in 1994 and is dedicated to children and young adults faced with adversity who live and appreciate the western way of life. Western Wishes celebrates the courage, spirit, and determination of these individuals by granting wishes and highlighting accomplishments. Through Western Wishes I have met some of the sweetest children with undying determination to live life to the fullest. The challenges that they over come in their daily life teach me to have such gratitude for how lucky I truly am. They are the true definition of “Cowboy UP”! Being Miss Rodeo Utah has opened even more doors for me to help with this wonderful program, and I plan to continue beyond my reign as it will always have a special place in my heart.
As Miss Rodeo Utah I’ve been busy as a bee traveling to Denver, twice to Florida, to each corner across the great state of Utah and I still have many more miles to cover! Whether it was in my home state or across the country, I have been met with open arms. People from all walks of life have shown me their love and support. I have made so many memories and friendships that I will forever be grateful for. I know if I’m ever in need in Florida I have a friend I can call on!! I can proudly say I took the leap of faith and not only ate alligator but also walked a tight rope. I’m living up to my promise to myself to be more adventurous and not pass up any opportunity that is offered to me thru this amazing experience.
